Lamborghini Urus

Revealed as a concept at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show, Lamborghini has finally given the green light to the production of their newest creation, the Urus.

The Urus will be unlike all other current Lamborghini models because it is a 4 door crossover SUV.  Although Lamborghini is still unsure of the exact engine they’re going to put into the Urus, people are speculating a V8 and probably some sort of hybrid engine giving the car about 600 horse power.  The creation of the Urus is a big step away from the traditional Lamborghini coupe race car like vehicles but it should be an amazing car and shows progress and extension of the brand to a new region of the automobile market.  Lamborghini can now compete with other high end crossovers like the Bentley Bentayga, Jaguar F-Pace, Aston Martin DBX, Maserati Levante.  It’s really odd to imagine a Lamborghini that doesn’t ride just a few inches off the street.  I’m not sure how successful it will be because the market it pretty small for this kind of car but the name Lamborghini may just sell it self if the price is right.

The Urus does come packed with some pretty cool features.  The body work is made up of lots of carbon fiber making the car much lighter and the interior has amazing looking seats.  Although not legal yet, the Urus represents the future of automobile technology and has cameras which replace the conventional rear view mirrors on either side of the car.  Instead, screens are located on the interior on both sides of the dashboard, giving views of the rear of the car from the cameras located on the outside.  Even with the entirely different body shape, Lamborghini has given the Urus several of their unique features including the hexagonal shapes on the front grill, along with the custom led head and tail lights.  These features tie the vehicle together as just another one of the Lamborghini famliy.
